CORE (Curriculum Orientation - Religious Education)

Overview

CORE is a three-day professional learning program. CORE invites educators to explore the vision, structure, and guiding principles of the Archdiocese of Brisbane’s RE Curriculum, delving into contemporary pedagogies and curriculum planning. Through interactive workshops, collaborative unit and assessment design, participants gain practical skills to create meaningful learning experiences in the classroom.  This program will deepen your understanding of the religious life of the school by engaging with liturgy, prayer, sacraments, and Catholic symbol, culminating in a cathedral tour and the creation of a liturgical celebration tailored to your school context. With two applied assignments and opportunities for reflection, this course not only supports accreditation and further study, but also empowers educators to nurture faith, understanding, and community in Brisbane Catholic Education schools.

Who can enrol in CORE?

CORE is open to all school staff, including early career teachers, educators new to the Archdiocese, and members of Leadership Teams (Principal, DP’s, HOD, APsRE, Aps), offering accessible insights into both the RE Curriculum and the religious life of schools.

You may apply for a post-graduate unit credit through Brisbane Catholic Education towards a Graduate Certificate in Religious Education (GCRE) or one of the 3 nominated Master courses at Australian Catholic University.

Additional information

Release funding during CORE

Limited release funding is available to BCE Schools for teachers attending CORE in-service during school time. To apply for release funding, Principals/APREs are asked to contact CORE@bne.catholic.edu.au after the teacher has been enrolled in all three days of the course in iLearn.

BCE Schools can apply for release funding for the equivalent of two of the participant's attendance if it was completed in school time. For example, if a teacher attends 3 days in school time, then a school can apply for 2 days release.
