Ways Christians act

Jesus as model

The actions of Jesus inform the actions of Christians in their daily lives. Christians aspire to and are challenged by the way Jesus lived. We know most of his actions through story.

From Scripture stories we know that Jesus was able to relate to all people, both the poor and lowly and the rich and well connected; Jesus challenged people to think differently beyond their customary ways and prejudices. We also learn from Scripture that Jesus was in touch with his world and had a vision for a better world that incorporated his ideas about the kingdom of God. The stories also tell us of Jesus’ compassion and humanness and his desire to be an advocate for the poor, downtrodden and abused.

Living like Jesus

Christians aspire to emulate such characteristics and qualities of Jesus and act accordingly. Some of these qualities and characteristics include his close relationships with God and others, wisdom, tolerance, forgiveness, compassion, inclusivity, discernment, knowledge, hope, faith, trust, love, advocacy, patience, kindness, goodness, peace and courage.
