Smoking ceremony

The smoking ceremony

The Smoking Ceremony is performed to help heal and purify us in our mission of reconciliation.

The smoke is used to cover the participants’ bodies, ridding them of what is not needed.

It also cleanses the earth.

Participants will feel the Spirit of Mother Earth amongst them helping them to leave behind troubles, fear and sorrow.

The smoke will give strength to help all Australians to move forward with a better understanding of the past and how the past affects the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people today.
